Start with the truck and the carrying route
Labor-only moving works best when the truck or container is available at the scheduled start. Allow time to pick up your rental, check its condition with the rental provider, and reach the property before the moving crew. A truck reservation and a moving-labor booking are separate parts of your plan.
Think through where the vehicle can legally and safely park. The distance from the front door, stairways, elevators, narrow gates, and storage-unit access all affect the job. Share those details in your MovingHelp.com booking instead of leaving them as surprises on arrival. Confirm property or storage-facility access requirements in advance.
- Confirm the rental pickup and labor start times.
- Arrange parking and any building or elevator access.
- Clear walkways, stairs, and door openings.
- Keep children and pets away from the carrying route.
Moving pads and straps are part of your preparation
Rowann Tree Helping Hands does not currently supply moving pads. Obtain appropriate furniture pads from your rental provider or another supplier before moving day. Household towels and blankets are not a dependable substitute for proper moving protection.
For a one-way loading job, you must provide suitable tie-down straps that remain with your rental truck. When the same Rowann crew handles both loading and unloading, the crew may use its own straps. Not sure which supplies you need? John is happy to answer equipment questions before you book.
Let the crew know about fragile surfaces, glass, and items that need extra preparation. Packing help is a separate service decision: do not assume a loading-only booking includes boxing the contents of your home.
Pack for the destination, not just the doorway
Close boxes securely and label them with the destination room. Identify fragile boxes so they can be discussed during the walkthrough. Set aside the items you are taking personally, including keys, medications, important documents, and what you need for your first night.
Tell the crew if you need rooms kept in separate groups, a particular unloading order, or access to certain belongings during the trip. Those preferences can affect how a truck is arranged and how much usable space remains. Agree on priorities before loading starts rather than changing the plan after items are already inside.
Give the crew a useful walkthrough
At the start, identify what is moving, what is staying, and any existing damage or unusual handling needs. Discuss large or specialty items before booking so their access, suitability, and price can be reviewed individually. The standard two-person labor rate does not automatically include specialty items.
A clear inventory and access information help you choose a realistic labor booking. The standard rate is $100 per hour for a two-person crew with a two-hour minimum. Check the Rates page and your MovingHelp.com booking for the applicable terms; there is no universal finish time for every two-bedroom home or every truck size.
Before the truck leaves
Walk through the property to check closets, cabinets, storage spaces, and rooms marked to stay. Keep your own essentials accessible and confirm the unloading plan. If another crew is unloading, make sure that team knows about any special arrangement or fragile items.
This checklist helps prepare the job; it is not a guarantee against damage and does not replace the rental provider's vehicle or cargo instructions. Ask questions early so everyone starts with a clear plan.
